Fall at Prairie Grove School District
Good morning Parents of PG Students!
We have some exciting things going on with Prairie Grove PTA this year. Our first 2 meetings have been greatly successful and we are so proud to have such a boost in membership and attendance.
This last weekend was our First Annual Mother Son Night of Fun. We quadrupled our expectations for this event...awesome! Thank you to those wonderful moms who put this event together and volunteered for set-up and clean-up. We couldn't do these events without you.
Our Innisbrook Wrapping Paper fundraiser, though requested on our fundraiser survey at the end of last year, was not as successful as we had hoped. Those orders have been turned in and we will get those items out to the students for distribution as soon as they are received.
Our Fall Festival is coming up on November 5th. We need all of you hard-working parents to chip in to make this event a success as it will need to be our major fundraiser for the year. These fundraisers go towards putting on fun events for the kids, such as the Mother Son Night of Fun, the Daddy Daughter Dance and the Mini-Fun Day. We also use these funds for teacher appreciation, lollipops for shots and popcorn day at the schools. To continue with all of our planned events, we need to bring in enough funds to cover costs. We have been working diligently with Committee Chair, Brittany Allsup to make this night fun (and profitable), but it needs more work. Here's what we still need:
I'm sure there's more that will need to be done, but this is a start. All of your help is appreciated.

- More ideas for games. We have about 10, but we need more.
- DONATIONS!!! We need big items for a silent auction, small items for game prizes, mid-sized items for door prizes, food items and cash donations for advertising the event.
- Chili Cook off Entrants and Judges as well as a donated prize for the winner.
- Delicious Baked Goods for a Cake Walk, Beautiful Baked Goods for the silent auction and Small Individually Wrapped Baked Goods for purchase for dessert.
- Time...we need everyone to sign up for at least 30 minutes of help with the event itself. Setup, Tear-down, manning booths, serving food etc.
I'm sure there's more that will need to be done, but this is a start. All of your help is appreciated.

Meet and Greet
It has been an exciting month for the Prairie Grove PTA! We kicked off with the annual internal audit...woo hoo! But seriously, it's something the PTA does every year to keep ourselves in check.
At this time the new board, Melinda Southerly, President, Tiana Hall, Vice President, Teresa Strong, Secretary and Jill Knoke-Staggs, Treasurer, officially took office. We went over last year and started planning for this coming year.
This past weekend, Saturday July 23rd, your board attended the state PTA meeting to learn all sorts of great information. We then all met yesterday, July 26th to discuss plans for the 2011-2012 school year. The first such event will be the Meet and Greet planned for Monday, August 8th, during the Open House. We will be set up between the Primary and Intermediate buildings so that parents and teachers can come meet the new board and sign up to be a part of this great organization for the coming year.
We are really looking forward to what we can do as a group for the kids and teachers this year, but we need your help! Your time is appreciated as much as your funds, so if you can't swing one, how about the other? We listened to your ideas for fundraising and are taking them into account for what we do this year. Help us make it great!

H-E-L-P
ALL HANDS ON DECK!!! PTA is especially busy right now and can use your help. Please remember that you do not have to be a "member" of PTA to volunteer. (My goal is to unite parents with volunteering opportunities in the school, which benefits us all).
****Daddy daughter dance set up will be 6pm at the high school on Friday (29th), please come if you can. Also starting at 4pm Saturday we need volunteers to help with serving food, tickets, clean up between and after dances.
****Next week is Teacher Appreciation week, we have arranged a small token of appreciation for each staff member each day of the week and need help distributing and putting these together. Please contact Melinda, Theresa or Tonya if you can help.
****Muffins for Moms is next week, too. Thanks to Brandi Foster for organizing this.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made yesterday's Mini Fun Day possible! A special thanks to Tiana who really helped me out and helped run things! Please check out our Facebook page for a few pictures of the fun had by all! Don't forget tonight is another PTA meeting 6pm at the Primary Cafeteria. Thursday will be our final meeting before the Daddy-Daughter Beach Party next Saturday. Hope to see you there!
